Southwest LAPD Foot Patrol: Maintaining the Quality of Life

Greater Leimert Park Village Crenshaw Corridor Business Improvement District (GLPVCC BID) has two new foot patrol officers, bringing the total to four officers assigned to the business and residential community. Officers Rickey Crowder and Larry Cole joined fellow officers Lester Bodiford and Marcus Whitehead in monitoring quality of life issues along the Crenshaw Corridor from Vernon to Rodeo. Jazz & Blue Museum Set to Open

Jazz and blues legend Barbara Morrison shows no signs of slowing down. Having successfully launched the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, she now has set her sights on opening a Jazz and Blues Museum in Leimert Park Village.

Ride On! Bike Co-op Comes to Leimert Park Village

Ride On! is a bicycle co-op that rents, sells, repairs and teaches owners how to repair their bikes. Owner Ade Neff originally got the idea to open a bike shop after finding the nearest place where he could repair his bike was eight miles away, well outside the boundaries of South Los Angeles.

The Greater Leimert Park Village Crenshaw Corridor Business Improvement District (“GLPVCC BID”) is a unique and eclectic mix of retail, restaurant, art, office, parking and mixed-use commercial businesses located five miles south of the Interstate 10 Freeway in Los Angeles.

For over 50 years Leimert Park has been an important center of African-American art and culture as well as a center of commerce.

There are three zone boundaries within GLPVCC BID.

Zone 1: The core Leimert Park Village

Zone 2: Commercial areas along Crenshaw Blvd. (not including Baldwin Hill Crenshaw Plaza), Leimert Blvd., and Marlton Square

Commerce is a major attraction in GLPVCC BID. From one of the oldest shopping centers in the US, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, to restaurants, cafes, boutiques, bookstores, banks, performing arts centers, theaters and night clubs, Greater Leimert Park Village has it all. The People Street Plaza on 43rd Place and the Metro Crenshaw LAX Line (opening in 2019) will add to the vibrancy of the community.
